Middle Years (Age 12 -15)

Middle Years

Learning with Purpose. Growing with Confidence.

At King’s College UK, Gurugram, we are committed to providing an education that inspires curiosity, develops character and prepares students to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) Candidate School, we are implementing the MYP framework as we work towards authorisation by the International Baccalaureate.

The MYP is a globally recognised educational framework designed for students aged 12 to 15. It provides a rigorous and balanced approach to learning that supports academic achievement while nurturing students’ personal, social and emotional development.

What Makes the MYP Distinctive?

Building upon the strong foundations established in the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the MYP encourages students to make meaningful connections between subjects and the world around them. As students move through the middle years, they are supported in becoming increasingly independent learners who take greater ownership of their learning and personal growth.

A key feature of the MYP is its emphasis on conceptual understanding. Rather than simply acquiring facts, students explore enduring ideas and develop a deeper understanding of concepts that can be applied across different disciplines and authentic real-world situations.

Inquiry is central to learning in the MYP. Students are encouraged to ask questions, investigate ideas, evaluate evidence and reflect on their learning. As they grow in confidence, they are given increasing opportunities to exercise agency by making informed choices, setting goals and taking responsibility for their own learning journey.

International-mindedness is an important aspect of the educational experience at King’s. Students are encouraged to appreciate different cultures, perspectives and ways of thinking while recognising their shared responsibility to contribute positively to local and global communities.

At King’s, ATL skills are explicitly taught, consistently developed and meaningfully applied across all subject groups.
